Story
Careflight assisted in saving my life on the 21st July 2007 flying me to hospital and assisting in saving my life after my traumatic motorcyle accident. The accident resulted with the amputation of my right leg below the knee.
The Oaks Fire Trail was one of my passions before my accident. Join me in conquering the Oaks Fire Trail again and supporting Careflight at the same time.
Please support me with a secure online donation. Thank you!
(. . . for those worried, yes I still cycle and ride motorbikes) :)
Activity
CareFlight
CareFlight is an aeromedical charity with a mission to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community.
CareFlight was founded in 1986 to get trauma treatment and critical medical care to seriously ill and injured patients as quickly as possible so they have the greatest chance of recovery and can resume their lives.
Since 1986 CareFlight have expanded from a single Sydney rapid response critical care helicopter service to providing expertise in critical medical care, aviation and logistics to many communities and partners across Australia who need it.
CareFlight critical care doctors, paramedics and nurses are specially trained in emergency, trauma, pre-hospital and remote medicine. This means CareFlight crews can start treating severely ill and injured people who need emergency treatment at the scene of a trauma incident, or when they are in remote locations - far away from a hospital.
CareFlight also travel internationally to bring ill and injured Australians home, and treat and retrieve oil and gas company workers stationed outside Australia who need a hospital level of care. The crews also look after seriously ill people who need to be moved interstate or between hospitals for specialist treatment. CareFlight clinical teams use helicopters, turbo-prop planes, jet aircraft and road vehicles to reach patients wherever they are.
As a Registered Training Organisation and an accredited training college for registrars, CareFlight is able to train leading health care professionals, in the fields of emergency medicine, intensive care and anaesthetics, and deliver extensive aviation and logistics training to staff and other organisations’ employees.
The mobile MediSim education and training program takes vital trauma care training directly to communities; and the rural and remote paediatric workshops educate clinicians and health practitioners on diagnosing and treating specific childhood illnesses and injuries. CareFlight partners with emergency service organisations, defense forces and businesses to deliver our expertise with agencies like NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Ambulance.
